US Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle by Springfield
Indian Wars
.45-70. 32.5" barrel length. SN: 348026. Blued finish with case colored breechblock in walnut straight wrist stock with blued steel fittings. Single shot breechloading cartridge rifle. Lockplate is signed {US Eagle} followed by US/SPRINGFIELD with the breechblock marked US/MODEL/1878. Left barrel marked V/P/{Eagle Head} and shows an additional A initial and P at left breech. Both barrel bands struck U, while the buttplate is marked US. Stock is marked with the circle P proof to the wrist, and boxed SWP cartouche of Samuel W. Porter to the left wrist dated 1886. Rifle mounts a Buffington rear sight and three click action with low-arch breechblock and vertically serrated trigger. Comes with a reproduction leather sling.
