Lot Description

Group of Civil War Era Union Accoutrements: 2 Belts & U.S. Plates, 3 Cap Pouches, a Sword Knot, a Holster & A Carbine Thimble

Lot contains three cap pouches, all signed in some way. One is marked E.METZGER/PHILA and with ordnance sub inspector stamp with the name struck too weakly to read. Second example shows a weak 47 stamp, and is scratched De Peyster/Co. C 24 Mass Vol./Hatchers Va. June 8th 64. Final example exhibits an illegible maker mark on the inner flap obscured by cracking, and mounts to a leather belt with brass US belt plate. Leather carbine thimble struck with maker mark to the strap reading E.METZGER/PHILA. Also included is a leather sword knot signed E.GAYLORD/CHICOPEE/MASS, a leather belt with standard brass US belt plate, and a civil war pattern leather holster with brass studs, and a closed toe.
