Single shot percussion pistol with smooth bore. Lockplate is marked US/H.ASTON forward of the hammer and MIDDTN/CONN./1847 behind it. Item shows a faint M inspector mark to the barrel flat. Stock has been sanded and is without cartouches. Hammer screw appears to have been replaced.
