19th Century French Percussion Target Pistol
.48 Cal. 10" barrel length. SN: NSN. Blued barrel and case colored breechblock mounting fine dovetailed front blade and fixed rear notch sights mounting checkered walnut stock with Schnabel forend. Single shot percussion target pistol with octagonal barrel and engraved embellishments. Lockplate features wheat chaff border scroll engraving enclosing a pineapple behind the hammer, wheat forward of the hammer, and floral scroll around the screw ports. Hammer features further floral engraving with knurled tang and forward triggerguard, pineapple finial to trigger plate and to the counterpane. Pommel cap to the grip is engraved with a rosette scroll. Barrel is engraved to match with a single arrow pointing forward on the breechblock.
