Lot of Seven 19th Century U.S. Socket Bayonets with Five Scabbards, Pre-Civil War to Indian Wars
1.) US Model 1816/2/27 Socket Bayonet and Pattern 1839 Scabbard. 16" prow point blade with 8.5" face flute, 3" friction fit socket with T-mortise for a top stud. Ricasso marked U/US. Brass mounted leather scabbard.
2.) Shortened US Model 1855 Socket with shortened US Pattern 1851 Scabbard. 14.5" blade with 13" face flute, 3" socket with locking ring mortised for a top stud. Ricasso marked US. Bayonet scabbard with sewn only frog and brass 2-pin tip shortened about 1" from its original length.
3.) US Model 1855 Socket Bayonet and Pattern 1851 Scabbard. 18" blade with 16.5" face flute, 3" socket with locking ring mortised for a top stud. Ricasso marked US. Bayonet scabbard with sewn only frog and replaced brass 4-pin tip.
4.) US Model 1873 Socket Bayonet with US marked Hoffmann swivel scabbard. 18" blued blade with 16.5" face flute, 3" socket with locking ring mortised for a top stud. Ricasso marked US. Bayonet scabbard with blued steel body and leather Hoffmann swivel belt frog.
5.) US Model 1855 Socket Bayonet. 18" blade with 16.75" face flute, 3" socket with locking ring mortised for a top stud. Ricasso marked US. No scabbard present.
6.) US Model 1835 Replacement Socket Bayonet. 18" blade with tapered shoulders, 16.5" face flute, 2.625" socket, missing the locking ring and mortised for a bottom stud. Ricasso marked US. No scabbard present.
7.) US Model 1835 Socket Bayonet with Enfield Scabbard. 18" blade with squared shoulders, 16.5" face flute, 2.625" socket, with locking ring and mortised for a bottom stud. Ricasso marked US. Includes an incorrect British military Pattern 1853 Type I brass mounted leather socket bayonet scabbard, circa early 1850s with a Board of Ordnance BO/{Broad Arrow} inspection mark.
