Ames U.S. Model 1860 Cavalry Saber
American Civil War

34.5" blade length. 42.25" overall with scabbard and hilt. Curved single edged sword with 7" false edge and double fullers. Item mounts a brass hilt with two branches connecting to the knuckle bow, a turkshead pommel, and leather wrapped grips with braided wire binding. Comes in a steel scabbard with two hangers. Right ricasso is struck U.S./D.R/1863 on the right side and displays manufacturer mark reading AMES MFG CO/CHICOPEE/MASS to the left. Scabbard is unmarked.
