1864 Dated U.S. Model 1860 Cavalry Saber by Mansfield & Lamb
American Civil War
35" curved single edged blade with 26.75" stopped fuller. Overall length 41.25" with a 6" hilt with two-branch cast brass guard and knuckle bow. Leather covered grooved wooden grip with 11 wraps of twisted wire. Obverse ricasso marked U.S./JCW/1864. Reverse ricasso marked with a clear Mansfield & Lamb maker's cartouche. Pommel cap with C.E.W. sub-inspection as well as a single W mark. Steel scabbard with two suspension rings and a weak DR inspection on the drag. Part of a sword belt hanger is attached to the upper ring.
