Leather covered grooved wooden grip with 11 wraps of twisted wire. Obverse ricasso marked U.S./JCW/1864. Reverse ricasso marked with a clear Mansfield & Lamb maker's cartouche. Pommel cap with C.E.W. sub-inspection as well as a single W mark. Steel scabbard with two suspension rings and a weak DR inspection on the drag. Part of a sword belt hanger is attached to the upper ring.
