1864 Dated Ames U.S. Model 1840 NCO Sword with Scabbard & Cloth Bag
American Civil War
32.4" blade length. 40" overall with scabbard and hilt. Straight single edged blade with single fullers, spearpoint tip, and mounting an all brass hilt with turned down clamshell guard. Knuckle bow initialed W.C on the right edge. Manufacturer mark to left ricasso reads AMES MFG CO/CHICOPEE/MASS. Comes with a leather scabbard with brass throat, drag, and triple hangers, along with a cotton bag.
