Lot Description

Two gold and ivory mourning pins England or America, dated 1785 and 1791

The first, of octagonal form, painted with woman weeping beside covered urn atop plinth inscribed, "NOT LOST/ BUT/ GONE/ BEFORE," the reverse engraved, "Dor. Anne Kennien/ Ob. 16 Octr 1785 AE 20"; the second, of lozenge form, depicting woman seated beneath willow tree and beside covered urn atop plinth, the reverse inscribed, "Willm/ Slater/ Obt. 30 Jan/ 1791/ AEt. 68,"; together with a gold and ivory oval pendant depicting woman leaning upon urn on plinth, dated, "October 31, 1780," the reverse set with hair, loop attachment.
