Lot Description

Gold, ivory, and hairwork mourning pin Possibly America, dated 1801

Of circular form, painted with female mourner seated beside covered urn on plinth inscribed, "E.C. OB 26/ NOV 1801/ AE 27," the reverse with hairwork fleur-de-lis embellished with seed pearls and gold wire, set against a mother-of-peal ground, fitted with pin, seemingly unmarked.
