Lot Description

Gold, ivory and hairwork mourning ring England or America, dated 1789

The oval reserve painted with female figure weeping beside raised obelisk, bearing the initials, "CL," and embellished with seed pearls and gold wire, beneath reverse-painted willow tree and atop hairwork hillock, engraved to verso, "Revd/ Charles/ Ley/ Died, 7 Marh/ 1789/ Aged 79," seemingly unmarked.
