Lot Description

Two gold, hairwork and ivory mourning pins/pendants England or America, one dated 1794

The first, of oval form, painted with female figure seated beside covered urn raised on plinth inscribed, "REVD T.W/ OBT 18TH FEBY/ 1794/ AET 24," with hairwork surround, the reverse set with hair and fitted with pin and loop attachment; the second, of marquise form, with woman seated beside urn raised on plinth inscribed, "REST/ IN/ PEACE," the reverse set with hair, fitted with pin and loop attachment threaded by black grosgrain ribbon, both seemingly unmarked.
