Lot Description

Gold and ivory mourning pin and clasp Probably England, late 18th/early 19th century

The pin of marquise form, depicting female figure kneeling to place heart in open flame on plinth inscribed, "MC," bird holding wreath flies overhead, enamel and seed pearl surrounds, the reverse fitted with pin, seemingly unmarked; together with clasp attached to velvet, painted with woman leaning on plinth inscribed, "GRATI/ TUDE," recumbent dog at her feet, enamel and seed pearl surrounds, seemingly unmarked.
