Lot Description

Two gold and ivory mourning rings Probably England, dated 1785 and 1790

The first, of marquise form, painted with woman leaning on covered urn atop plinth inscribed, "TC/ ob/ 14 Sep/ 1785/ AE 74"; the second, of oval form, depicting woman and child beside urn on plinth inscribed, "CW," with cherub flying overhead holding bannerette inscribed, "HEAVEN HAS IN STORE WHAT THOU HAST LOST," the reverse inscribed, "Charles/ Walker/ Surgeon/ in Lawrence Kirk/ died there the 20th/ Feby 1790/ Aged 31 Yrs."; both seemingly unmarked.
