Lot Description
Three gold and ivory mourning pins/pendants England or America, one dated 1789
All of marquise form, the first, painted with woman standing beside obelisk decorated with cherub's head and inscribed, "FRANCES/ DAY/ OB 10 APRIL/ 1789/ AE 15," with beaded gold and seed pearl surrounds, the reverse set with hair and fitted with pin; the second, depicting female mourner leaning on plinth topped with two birds, recumbent dog at her feet, beaded gold surround, fitted with pendant loop; the third, painted en grisaille, depicting maiden holding dove, second dove rests on plinth, enamel and beaded gold surrounds, the reverse fitted with pin and pendant loop, all seemingly unmarked.
