Lot Description
Group of three gold and ivory mourning pins England or America, late 18th/early 19th century
All of marquise form, the first, painted en grisaille, depicting woman weeping beside covered and swagged urn surmounting plinth inscribed, "In Memory of/ Mrs Obedience/ Bacon. - An/ Affectionate/ tender Mother," with beaded gold surround, the reverse inscribed, "J Pannill,/ To/ A Pannill," fitted with pin and pendant loop; the second, depicting female figure holding a flowered wreath above a pair of doves, with blue enamel and seed pearl surrounds, the reverse fitted with pin; and the third, depicting female mourner lamenting beside a covered urn, with paste surround, the reverse fitted with pin and pendant loop, all seemingly unmarked.
