Lot Description

* Auto Ordnance D-Day Commemorative 1911A1 Pistol Issued by American Historical Foundation in Box

.45 ACP. 5" barrel length. SN: DDAY0212. Blued finish with gold small parts, polished barrel, and imitation ivory grips commemorating the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. Short-recoil operated single action autoloading pistol fed by detachable magazines. The left slide is marked in gold letters IN HONOR OF THE D-DAY INVASION/SIXTH OF JUNE 1944/"ACCEPT NOTHING LESS THAN FULL VICTORY" with gold scroll engraved border. The rear of the slide behind the cocking serrations is marked NORMANDY within a banner. The grip panels are decorated with medallions reading D-DAY 6 JUNE 1944/OPERATION OVERLORD. The right slide has been hand engraved GEORGE A. HEBENSTREIT/COMBAT CAMERAMAN. A zip tie secures the slide, and an inspection tag remains affixed to the triggerguard. Item comes in a walnut display case with olive green cloth lining and a panel marked D-DAY/COMMEMORATIVE 1911A1 .45/LIMITED EDITION/ISSUED BY/THE AMERICAN HISTORICAL FOUNDATION/RICHMOND, VIRGINIA. Item has no key and comes with one magazine.
