Lot Description
.44-40. 5.5" barrel length. SN: 87151. (Mfg. Ca 1883) Nickel plated refinish overall including small parts with synthetic bone grips mounting gold Colt medallions. Single-action loading gate six-shot revolver with topstrap notch and front blade sights. The revolver mounts a black powder frame with screw retained firing pin, black powder narrow land rifling, and a kidney-shaped ejector rod head. Hammer catches in the notch. The left frame features a three line patent reading PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871./" JULY. 2. -72./" JAN. 19.-75. with the top of the barrel marked COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. The serial numbers to the gripstraps and frame. The cylinder and barrel are not numbered, and the loading gate shows the assembly number 5527. The triggerguard is struck with the initials ER and the name R.F. ENEWOLD, a prolific antique gun collector who marked the firearms he acquired with discreet stamps. Further marks include an H inspection stamp in the hammer notch and a U to the rear frame. Item features multiple replaced screws including the front triggerguard screw and bottom gripstrap screw.
