[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. 16 assorted images featuring parents with children.
Half plate ambrotype portrait of a family including mother, father, and two young boys. (Some abraiding/losses to plate, spotting to mat, no preserver; resealed.) Housed in a half pressed paper case. -- Quarter plate ambrotype portrait of a mother, father, and their baby. The father has his arms crossed and wears a rather stern or cold expression. (Minor spots and abrasions, some losses to image/emulsion, lacquer; unsealed.) Housed in a leatherette case (one closure eye missing). -- Quarter plate pair of tintypes of parents and their children, one being a portrait of a bearded father holding two young kids in his lap, the other being a portrait of a mother holding a baby in her lap. (Both images with some chemical deterioration, darkening.) Housed together in the same flip case (back cover fully separated). --Sixth pate ambrotype of a father and his son or daughter with curled hair. The father wears a charming smile and an interesting hairstyle. (Some wear to emulsion, crackling to lacquer; original seals.) Housed in a figural Union case (chipping, soiling). Velvet pad and mat stamped for R. H. VANCE, San Francisco, CA. -- And 11 others, including one half plate tintype housed in a fully separated case stamped for Root's Gallery (Cook Artist) in Philadelphia, one quarter plate tintype, 5 sixth plate daguerreotypes, one sixth plate ambrotype, and 3 sixth plate tintypes. Some without cases. Conditions vary. -- Together, 16 daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, and tintypes of parents posed with their children.
