Black Australian opal measures 14mm x 20mm x 5mm and comes from the Lightning Ridge in Australia. The opal is considered to be N1 Black and nondirectional and has a total weight of 10.11 carats.
Note: Opals of this quality are considered rare for not only their grade of black coloring but also for the way they display their play of color. This opal will exhibit play of color from any direction the stone is displayed. Lightning Ridge mine was discovered in 1932 to posses some of the most impressive opals in the world and is known today as one of the most important opal mining regions in the world for black opals.
