A GEORGE IV SILVER CENTERPIECE

The standard modelled as a cast and chased classical female figure in full robe holding a removable circular pierced basket with a beaded rim and heart-shaped leaf border, and standing on a weighted socle base with chased acanthus and water leaf molded bands, the center with a coat of arms in a chased wreath centering two inscriptions, one reading Bequeathed by/ and in remembrance of/ Thomas Palmer Acland/ of the County of Devon, Esqr./ ONE OF THE TRUSTEES OF ALBANY, the other reading To William Thomas Luxmoore Esqre./ Secretary of that Institution/ FOR NEARLY A HALF CENTURY;/ 1847, the back between the inscriptions engraved with three sets of initials all below ducal coronets, the whole raised on three cast and chased leafage scroll and shell feet. Basket unmarked and by association, repair to basket at hand of figure, unevenness at rim of basket.H: 17-7/8 in.
