Lot Description
[HOLLYWOOD]. A collection of 110 publicity photographs of leading actors and actresses dating from the 1920s-1970s, including:
Silver gelatin photographs, most 8 x 10 in., or smaller, featuring portraits, informal views, and film stills of actors and actresses, many from the Golden Age of Hollywood (generally very good to near excellent condition, some with corner and edge wear). Many include typed or penciled captions to verso as well as ink stamps from the publisher or photographer. Highlighted subjects include:

[With:] 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 in. photograph of Thomas Harper Ince. Washington, DC: Harris & Ewing. Ince (1880-1924) was an American silent film-era filmmaker who was best known as the "Father of the Western," and was responsible for making over 800 films. He revolutionized the motion picture industry by creating the first major Hollywood studio facility. Ince died under mysterious circumstances aboard media tycoon William Randolph Hearst's private yacht.
