8vo. Frontispiece birds-eye-view of Washington, additional plates. (Some spotting.) Original tan cloth (recased, original cloth laid down, new endpapers).

FIRST EDITION history of the 2-part fraud conducted by the Union Pacific Railroad and the Credit Mobilier of America Construction company. (1864-1867). The story broke by The New York Sun during the 1872 Grant presidential campaign.
