Lot Description

[WASHINGTON, George (1732-1799)]. Inaugural button featuring eagle and six-pointed star. N.p., 1789.


34 mm stamped 1-piece button with shank. (Darkened, some corrosion near shank). Features an impressed spread-winged eagle with a heraldic estoile star with alternating wavy rays above, within a border of 54 marks. Reverse plain.  Provenance: Excavated at Fredericksburg, VA (related by consignor).
