Sixth plate seated portraits of an elderly man with a can and an elderly woman wearing a bonnet. (Tarnishing to edges, minor spotting; unsealed.) Housed together in a book-style case with hand painting and mother-of-pearl inlay (surface wear, some separation to spine, and closure clasp missing).

Typewritten paper sewn to velvet pad identifies subjects as "Dr. Francis Parker and his wife, Sally." Note goes on to read, "Dr. Parker was a Surgeon during the battle of Plattsburgh (War of 1812). He came to Parishville as the first physician in the town. and practiced here until his death in 1858. (Property of Doris Rowland of Parishville)."

Dr. Francis Parker (1790-1858) was born in Clarendon, Vermont, and studied medicine there, receiving a diploma from the State medical society of Vermont. He served as a surgeon in the War of 1812, notably at the Battle of Plattsburgh, and married Sarah Sally Parker in 1815, according to Samuel W. Durant's History of St. Lawrence Co., New York : illustrations and biographical sketches, some of its prominent men and pioneers.
