Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. Sixth plate daguerreotype featuring a man with no arms and only one leg.
Sixth plate portrait of a seated man who appears to be missing all of his limbs except for one leg. (Tarnishing to edges, few scratches to plate; re-glassed and resealed 1991.) Housed in a full pressed paper case (discoloration to satin pad, surface wear). Though not identified, the subject could have sustained his injuries in the Civil War. Provenance: Ex Paul Katz collection (penciled note on replacement seal).
