An August 13, 1962 Enid, Oklahoma Bud Wilkinson Day Presentation Including Telegram from President John F. Kennedy
On August 13, 1962, the City of Enid, Oklahoma honored legendary Oklahoma University football coach Bud Wilkinson. To commemorate "Bud Wilkinson Day," Wilkinson was presented with a binder containing a key to the city, a telegram from President John F. Kennedy highlighting Wilkinson's "courage and integrity," letters of congratulations from those in the seats of United States power including Sen. Robert Kerr, Sen. Mike Monroney, Majority Leader Carl Albert, Rep. Page Belcher, Rep. Ed Edmondson, Rep. Tom Steed, Rep. Victor Wickersham. In addition to the well wishes, this historically significant binder contains photos from that memorable day in the extraordinary life of Wilkinson.
