Lot Description
[MILITARIA] Miscellaneous American patriotic and martial ephemera.
Two pillow covers, 19th century, with American allies in Europe. American flag in center (46 stars). With portraits of King George and Queen Olga of Greece; King Peter and Queen Elizabeth of Servia; King Victor Emanuel and Queen Helena of Italy; King Nicholas and Queen Milena of Montenegro; and King Ferdinand and Queen Elenore of Bulgaria. One has a backing stitched to it, the other is as it came off the bolt.
Badge for the Society of Colonial Wars, with 4 pins for attaching to a jacket (or something heavy – it is a substantial badge). In center is an Indian head with “Fortiter Pro Patria” across the top. 9-pointed star, with a crow at the top. 3 x 4”. Membership in this society is open to anyone whose ancestor served the colonies between the settlement of Jamestown in 1607 and 1775 before the Battle of Lexington. This includes military service, but also governors, assistants/deputies in this position, legislators, etc. Any public service position.
Etched gin bottle/decanter with stopper. “Amsterdam / Croix d’Honneur 1895,” “Kiderlens Pure Hollands Geneva,” image of a “musketeer,” “Manufactured by the Nethsteam Distillery. Cyld. / Rotterdam near Schiedam.” 10-1/4” tall with stopper; 9” tall with no stopper. Loop handle on back.
