Including painted parfleche cylindrical storage box, a painted parfleche envelope, a lead and Catlinite-inlaid black stone pipe and wooden pipestem, a fringed hide pipe bag with Catlinite pipe and tamper, a powder horn, a quillwork rattle with tin cone and red feather danglers and hide fringe, a wool breach cloth with quilled panel together with matching panel and a single quill-worked knee ornament with tin cone and red feather danglers, a pair of beaded arm bands with quilled and tin cone and red feather danglers, a small quillwork breastplate with tin cone and feather danglers and a quillworked panel on cotton with tin cone and feather danglers and an elk horn scraper.

This collection was purchased from Reuben Takes the Gun on May 28, 1950. Please see photograph of Reuben holding many of the items in this lot. Dr. Zehner notes in his diary entry of that day that the rattle, "was made by his first wife who is now Mrs. Charlie Looking Back 15 years ago...A black Catlinite pipe with lead inlay...Reuben got from Greenwood S.D. about 13 years ago from his father's cousin, Two Hawk." The quill work and beaded arm bands "Made by his wife, Red Nest, 15 years ago." The powder horn originally belonged to Reuben Takes the Gun's maternal grandfather, Stabbed by An Assinboi.
