A Tribute to Givenchy

A Tribute to Givenchy

Givenchy opened his design house in 1952 after working for Elsa Schiaparelli, and his classic silhouettes and impeccable tailoring drew immediate interest from the Duchess of Windsor, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Audrey Hepburn. Givenchy and Hepburn would go on to collaborate on a number of projects, the most famous being the sleek black dress she wore in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

Hubert de Givenchy was described by the New York Times as a, “pillar of romantic elegance in fashion.”

He remained at his eponymous house until the mid 1990s. During his time at the helm, Givenchy developed a reputation as a designer of timeless elegance. We look back fondly on the Givenchy couture and ready to wear collections we’ve handled in recent years.

Our upcoming Luxury Accessories and Couture auction includes a number of Givenchy items, such as a silk leopard print trench coat, a black wool a-line dress, a red halter gown and more. A first glance below.
