A Rare Tibetan Polychrome Wood Figure of Chitipati
LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY
清中期 木雕彩繪尸陀林 連木座
finely worked to show the two skeletal protectors shown in ardhaparyankasana with arms embraced and knees intertwined, creating a mirror image of eachother while balanced on conch and cowrie shells, all while holding ritual implements aloft. Each having a third eye, and wide toothy smile, shown wearing a crown of five skulls and draped in a weightless billowing sash. The whole raised above a lotus lappet pedestal and later hardwood stand.
