Gold Sheridan's Corps badge presented by GAR post to Captain F. Dougherty, 1st Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers and 2nd Regiment Pennsylvania Cavalry.
1 1/4 x 2 in. gold badge comprised of a 1 1/4 x 1 1/2 in. gold keystone featuring GAR post designation "16 McLean" and "Post" in black enamel surrounding pierced entwined letters "GAR" in red, white, and blue enamel, with a suspended 5/8 x 1/2 in. Sheridan's Corps badge featuring blue enameled oval surmounted by gold crossed sabers. Verso inscribed, "To Capt. F. Dougherty / Co. A, 1st Reg P.V. / Co. K, 2d Reg PA. Cav." Housed in a maroon velvet lined hard case with gold jeweler label printed, "Gild & Delano / Jewelers / 2 Winter St. / Boston."
