Half plate daguerreotype of man in uniform and a civilian sharing a drink, housed under mat but lacking cover glass (weak clarity and contrast, significant surface scratching/wear to plate). The subject at left is not a likeness of a regular soldier as the army did not wear a double breasted coatee with frogging across the chest in the 1840s. It has been suggested that this could date from the Mexican War period.

Housed in full pressed paper case (light surface wear). -- Sixth plate daguerreotype of young boy in military-style coat holding what appears to be a cap in his hand (strong clarity and contrast, some tarnish to perimeter where plate meets mat). Housed in half pressed paper case (damage/loss to bottom edge).
