[WORLD WAR II]. US Naval Academy pin for 1923 and submariner's pin belonging to Carl K. Zimmerman, plus 1923 Lucky Bag belonging to J.B. Renn.
Pin for Class of 1923 by Bailey, Banks & Biddle, 14K. Initials CKZ engraved on verso.

Gold pin by Meyer with fish/dolphins and conning tower indicating Submarine Warfare Officer.
In 1927 Zimmerman is listed at the New London (CT) Submarine Base and in 1929 he was on SS-40 (later SS-145).
The Lucky Bag 1923: the Annual of the Regiment of Midshipmen United States Naval Academy. 4to, black cloth, top edge gilt, 482, lxi pp. This copy belonging to J.B. [Joseph Bryan] Renn (bio. p.192). [Zimmerman's (above) bio. is on p. 122] At least 50 midshipmen signed their bios. in Renn's copy of the yearbook. One of Renn and Zimmerman's classmates was Arleigh Burke, for whom a class of destroyers is named.
