Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Artillery bit, bridle, and reins with horse brush and saddle bags.
Civil War-era leather, brass, and metal artillery set. N.p., 19th century. Bridle has brass entwined “USA” side rosettes and correct early brass-faced D-buckles. Rare reins have correct 2-section type buckle. Black leather of bridle and reins are in excellent shape. Bit is the 1863 version with brass face and lead-filled USA rosettes. There is a "US" stamp on each side plate on mouth bar. Bit is complete. (Some cracking to leather with one split, otherwise excellent condition.)
[With:]: Horse brush. N.p., ca late 19th/early 20th century. 4 1/8 x 8 1/2 in. leather horse brush. Stamped "Army" alongside horse and crown design. Leather strap intact and stamped "Warranted All Bristles 95."
[Also with:] Leather saddlebags. N.p., late 19th/20th century. Approx. 14 1/2 x 42 in. leather saddlebags (white residue, straps missing). Larger than Civil War-period.
