Modern handwritten note accompanying box indicates that the box was a gift from President Johnson to Idar Rimestad, a diplomat who was appointed by Johnson as deputy undersecretary of state for administration in 1967.

United States Chief of Diplomatic Mission flag with 13 stars and gold fringe, approx. 34 x 64 in. (some pulled threads, light soil). Second with 4 blue stars and blue fringe, approx. 67 x 53 in. (small hole, light soil). -- Box of business cards for Rimestad: “Ambassador United States Mission...Geneva...” and "Ambassador United States Representative to the United Nations Office of Geneva and Other International Organizations.” -- Brass name placard from the office of “IDAR RIMESTAD AMBASSADOR United States of America.” -- Photograph of Rimestad. -- Two (2) political position award letters, one nominating Rimestad for Deputy Under Secretary of State signed by Secretary of US Senate Francis R. Valeo and another nominating him as Representative of the US to the European Office of the United Nations with rank of Ambassador, signed by Valeo. -- A U.S. Treasury Dept. award letter to Rimestad for Patriotic Service in the support of the US Bonds Program.
