Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. FARRAGUT, David Glasgow (1801-1870). Autograph note signed ("D.G. Farragut"), as Rear Admiral. 13 May 1863.
1p, 7 3/4 x 4 1/2 in. (toning, light soil). Note, entirely in Farragut's hand, reads in full: “The U. S. Naval forces will not interfere with the importation or exportation of the above mentioned articles.” [No list of articles present.] Signature followed by endorsement in a different hand, “Appd W[illiam] H[emsley] Emory / Comdg Defenses New Orleans / 22 May 1863.” Neatly mounted within border on card stock.
