Lot Description

[CALIFORNIA]. A group of photographs and prints of Southern California, including Los Angeles, San Diego, Etiwanda, Long Beach and vicinity, including: 


6 1/2 x 8 1/2 in. photograph of six men seated in early automobile before the California Electrical Works and Western Electric Co. building. Inscription appears to read “S.F. Cal. / May 9th /06." -- 5 1/2 x 4 in. photograph of Woodman's Picnic, Long Beach, CA, by Hovey. -- 7 x 5 in. photograph of Escondido Station, California. Inscription below, "Grape day, Sept. 9, 1912, taken by Paul Kroeckel." -- 6 x 8 in. photograph of men in uniform, identified on verso as “San Diego, Calif. Pan American Calif. Exposition 1915.” -- 11 snapshots, 3 x 4 1/2 in., of pinups posed before various backdrops, mounted on album pages with ink inscription identifying location as the Pan Pacific Photo Convention, Pan Pacific Auditorium, Los Angeles, 1948.-- 2 photographs, 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 in., on cardstock mounts, of Hermosa Beach, ca 1930. -- 6 x 8 1/4 in. photograph of nearly 2 dozen horses and several men, identified in pencil on verso, “Sight [sic] of Disneyland.” -- 11 x 14 in. photograph of “Disneyland 1966.” -- 6 3/4 x 3 1/2 in. cabinet card of San Bernardino meteor. -- Numerous photographs, 8 x 10 in. or smaller, of Los Angeles, including Los Angeles Motor Coach, Los Angeles Railway, storefronts, newsstand scenes, city and landscapes, advertising photographs, actors' residences, views of the Hollywood hills, entrance to Los Angeles Olympics, and aerial views. --Approx. 26 photographs, each 8 x 10 in., printed in 20th century from Steele Photo Service negatives, documenting people, places, construction at or near San Bernardino and Mt. Baldy. Each with Steele Photo Service ink stamp on verso.

Together, approx. 120 photographs and prints, including some copy photos. Condition generally good. Some with scattered spotting, staining, corner and edge wear to images or mounts.
