A Scrimshaw Corset Busk with Whale Hunting Scene
Mid 19th Century
cut from sperm whale panbone and crudely engraved with a whaling scene, showing a monument plinth surmounted by a pediment with a long pennant, a fashion plate copied after an illustration in an unidentified popular magazine, and a compass-rose device.
Length 13 5/8 inches.
