Lot Description

Two Designer Caftan Ensembles: One Givenchy Haute Couture Four-Piece Ensemble, One Philippe Venet Caftan with Scarf, 1970s

This Givenchy gown was made for and worn by Mona von Bismarck (1897-1983), international socialite and fashion icon. Born Mona Strader, she married five men of distinguished and noble origin. In 1933, she was the first American voted the Best-Dressed Woman in the World by Chanel, Lanvin, Molyneux, Lelong, and Balenciaga.
