The shaped crest centered by a gilt-stenciled medallion inscribed UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA 1819, over parcel-gilt and ebonzed spindles above the saddle seat, raised on bamboo-turned legs joined by stretchers; the reverse with brass plaque inscribed 'Thomas E. Martin, Jr.'49 Alumni Association Board of Managers, 1996-2000/ In Recognition of Unselfish Service and Contributions to the University of Virginia.'
