Lot Description

Three Silk and Lace Undergarments, 1900-1910s

A machine-sewn blue silk crepe chemise with a picot edge, crew neckline, flared elbow-length sleeves and a slit at the center back neck with a two-snap closure. A matching hand-sewn blue silk taffeta petticoat with a center back hook and eye closure and a flared hem of alternating horizontal bands of blue silk satin ribbons and cream lace. The pink petticoat is made of a silk twill with a three tier hem trimmed with off-white lace. The petticoat is almost entirely hand-sewn except for the pleats at the center back. A wide silk ribbon is sewn horizontally to the back of the petticoat to adjust the fullness of the flare. All three items unlabeled
