Lot Description

Victorian Costume for Theater or Fancy Dress, 1930-50s

Heavy cream cotton printed in a red and green floral pattern with a square neckline, elbow-length sleeves and cartridge pleating on the waistline. The dress closes with hook and eyes and buttons down the center back. Most of the main seams are finished by machine while the finishing is by hand. The net and lace collar and sleeve cuffs appear to be from the early 20th century. This well-made costume is based on a 'mid-Victorian' style and is a mixture of machine and hand-stitching. Previous alterations can be seen on the center front bodice. Unlabeled
