Lot Description

Lot of Three WWI Helmets

1.) M1916 Stahlhelm with WWII Liner. 7 X 9.25 X 12". Interior left helmet struck B.F.64. Item mounts both the horns for installing a brow plate, and the riveted chinstrap mounts for the Model 1916 pattern helmet. Rivet retained liner appears to be WWII vintage with eight pads. Missing chinstrap.

2.) French Adrian Helmet. 6.5 X 8.5 X 11.75". Interior of crown stamped with the CC anchor mark of Cie des Compteurs, with further stamped number 61 to interior rear. The name Raineau is scratched into the paint near the liner. Interior of the helmet retains the Horizon blue color with the exterior painted Khaki. The initials R.J. are scratched into the front brim. Item mounts the vented comb and {Bomb with Crossed Cannons} seal to front. Chinstraip has torn from the right bail.

3.) 7 X 8.75 X 9" Prussian Pickelhaube converted to piggy bank. Leather shell with brass spike, brim, and brow plate featuring the Eagle seal of Prussia with the slogan MITT GOTT FUR KOENIG UND VATERLAND embossed into it. Lacks chinstrap. A tin plate has been roughly cut and installed to the interior with a hatch permitting access. Cut through leather forward of the spike for inserting coin. The loose edges do not prevent coins from falling out, rendering it a striking if impractical method of securing loose change.

This lot is located in Cincinnati.
