Lot Description

LINCOLN, Abraham (1809-1865). Proclamation of Emancipation. Chicago: Chas. Shober, 1864.

22 x 17 7/8 in. engraved broadside designed by A. Kidder (backed on tissue, large central horizontal closed tear repaired, a 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 in. tear to upper margin with loss, not affecting text but a few flourishes in facsimile, scattered marginal repairs).

A SCARCE CHICAGO PRE-FIRE IMPRINT OF LINCOLN'S EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION. The broadside features six vignettes, including a portrait of Lincoln with a receding hairline.
