Lot Description
[LINCOLN ASSASSINATION]. Previously unknown CDV of John Wilkes Booth attrib. to Norton & Luther, Cleveland, OH, ca 1864.
CDV on cardstock mount featuring a vignetted portrait of John Wilkes Booth, with "J.W. Booth" penciled in an unknown hand below the image.
RARE: Not listed in John Wilkes Booth Himself by Richard and Kellie Gutman. Booth sat for Norton and Luther, in Cleveland, Ohio, at some point in 1864, and this appears to be a variant of the image taken by the photographers during the same sitting (see Gutman, image #31).
