Nov 26 1842. A. Lincoln, Attorney for Stafford."

The case of Stafford v. Whitney & Whitney was filed in early 1841 over two unpaid promissory notes issued to David Stafford by Jonas and Dewey Whitney totaling $170.82. After Whitney and Whitney failed to appear in court, a judgment was issued in Stafford's favor with an additional $196.22 in damages. Five lots owned by the Whitneys were seized and sold for $222, thus satisfying the judgment.
