Antonio Zeno Shindler
four albumen photographs, each approx. 7 1/4 x 5 1/4 in., on original 10 x 8 in. cardstock mount with imprint of Addis Gallery, Washington, DC in lower margin. Manuscript notations in different hands on mount recto and verso. Originally taken by Antonio Zeno Shindler, ca 1867-1868, and printed ca 1867-1869 when Shindler was the proprietor and photographer at the Addis gallery.
Subjects include: Na-ji-wa-kan, "The Sacred Ghost" (Fleming, entry 26). -- To-ki-ya-wi-ka-kte, "He Kills First" (Fleming, entry 25). -- Ma-zo-o-ya-ti, "Iron Nation" (Fleming, entry 20). -- Ma-va-ta-na-han-ska, "Long Mandan" (Fleming, entry 29).
