7 1/4 x 5 1/4 in. albumen photograph on 13 3/4 x 10 3/4 in. Hayden Survey mount with credit at lower left to W.H. Jackson.
A studio portrait of Yankton Sioux Brave Wan-Mdi-Sa-Pa, or Black Eagle, originally taken by A. Zeno Shindler in Washington, DC, in 1867.
In the 1870s, Shindler's negatives came under Jackson's control, and prints were put on Hayden Survey mounts.
