7 1/4 x 5 1/4 in. albumen photograph on 14 x 10 3/4 in. mount. Although uncredited, the photograph is attributed to Alexander Gardner, and was likely taken while Big Mount was on a delegation in Washington, DC, ca 1872. The subject wears a peace medal and holds a pipe-tomahawk.
